How to become eco-friendly

This topic shows you how to become Eco-friendly. Just follow these 6 steps.

1. Do not litter- Littering hurts the environment because trash cannot decompose. Only some trash can decompose, such as banana peels, fish, sticks, food and paper. Things that cannot decompose are as follows: tin cans, plastic bottles, tires, rubber and glass. If you litter, animals will eat the trash and they may suffocate and die. If you want to know what to do with this trash, read the next paragraph.

2. The three R's- The three R's are Reuse, Reduce, Recycle. These are one of the rules of becoming Eco-friendly.

a) Reuse- You can reuse printing paper, toys, rubber bands, etc. This helps cut down electricity, environmental destruction and much more.

b) Reduce- Stop buying too much! If you buy a lot of stuff, this encourages people too make more. Therefore, that wastes electricity to manufacture the items.

c) Recycle- Recycle all you can! Recycling uses the old stuff to make new stuff. So recycle tins, plastic, bottles, paper and aluminum. Did you know that there are companies that make t-shirts out of old soda bottles? Or that old bicycle tires can be recycle into floor mats for your house? You can even get a toothbrush that is made from recycled yogurt cups.

3. Save water- Saving water is really easy. All you got to do is turn off the faucet when nobody is using it. Take shorter showers instead of baths. When you're brushing your teeth, turn off the faucet. All these things can help save water.

4. Do not pollute the air- Polluting the air will make it hard for us to breath. Smoke is one thing that can pollute the air. Smoke can come from smoke pipes, chimneys, exhausts from vehicles, factories and open burnings. Do not burn the all your trash. That is called open burning and causes air pollution. Instead, throw away your trash in the trash and recycling bins.

5. Compost- Composting is a word for throwing out your food leftovers in a composting bin. How you compost is by taking your leftover foods and putting into a bin. Then put soil over it and add worms. The worms help digest the food and make it into new soil. You can use this soil for fertilizer, instead of using the fertilizer from the stores, which is poisonous.

6. Plant trees- Did you know that trees and plants help turn carbon dioxide into oxygen? That's why we need to plant a lot of trees and plants. If the carbon dioxide is left in the air and the trees don't turn it into oxygen, that causes global warming.
